ONE OF THE RIGHT SORT.
A Detroiter who was out in the country the other day to look.after some poultry, got stuck iD a mudhole, althoughjaatibg a: light buggy and a strong horse. He got out, took a rail off the fence, and was trying/ to pry the vehicle out when;-i i strapping young woman, about 26 years of age, came along. She halted surrey* ' ing the situation, and said : ; ," • "Yon. stand by the horse while I tiekro on the rail, and don't b3 afraid of' getting mud on your hands and boots." ? ■"••■■_■ Their united efforts released the vehicle; ' i and the Detroiter returned thanks-and asked her to get in and ride. Slie hesitated, looked up and down the road, and finally said : "^Stranger, I'm blunt spoken. Who ; - are you?" . He gave his name and residence, and slie continued: "I'm over 25, worth 500iols.,in cash, know all about housework, and this is leap year." •'Yes, I know; but for heaven's sake, don't ask me to marry you!" he replied, an he saw the drift. "See here," she continued, looking him -.; square in the eye, " I'm a straight girl, wear a No. 7 shoe, and I likes the look of _■ you." "Yes; but don't —don't talk that way to me!" " Stranger, it's leap year, aud I'm going to pop! Will you hare me or i n°fc P " " I—l'm—ready married," he faltered. " Honest lajun ? " \ > ".* '.' "Yes."
