Coins Bbowkb'b Chiobodxke, has earned for itself, not only in Hindoßtan, but all over the East. As a remedy of general utility, we much question whether a better is imported into tbe country, and we ihall be glad to hear of its finding a place in every Anglo-Indian home. The other brands, we are bappy to say, are now relegated to the native bazaars, and, judging from their sale, we ticy their sojourn there will be but evanescent. We could multiply instances ad infinUum of the extraordinary efficacy of Db. Coixis BbowneV Chxobodynb in Diarrhoea and Djt'ntery, Spaamß, Cramps, Neuralgia, the Vomiting of Pregnancy, and as a general sedative, that nave occurred under our personal observation during many years. In Choleraic Diarrhoea, and even in the more terrible forms of Cholera itself, we have witnessed its Burprisicgly controlling power. We have never used any other form of this medicine than Collis Browne's, from a firm conviction that it is decidedly the best, and also from a sense of duty we owe to the profession and the public, as we are of opinion ".that tbe substitution of any other than Collis Browne's is a. In these colonies those excesses which we have indulgedin " hot youth " tel "upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repining futile. The sole idea should be the chance we possess of remedying the ills we already have, for combatting the effects likely to result. Hide it as he may,- put on as good an exterior as he can, still is the victim conscious that he is a living lie, and that soouer or later his vices will discover him to the world. Our Faith, our obligations to society at large, tho welfare of our future offspring, and tho duty, we owe to oureelve9 forbids procrastination, and points out -to us, not to wait till the ravages break out in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk; before employing a barrister, a oareful man makes enquiries as their standing, their length of occupancy or residence; and, in the case of a legal adviser, both as to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults him upon. Strange to say, however, in the selection of medical man, the sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions and without regard to the fitness, qualification, experience and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the nearest mant whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope and money ? Have I not for yews pointed out to them that I, Dr L. L, Smith, am the only legally qualified medical man advertising in the Colonies ? Have I not also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling,—Buch as Phosphodyne Essence of Life, &c.—and had them analysed j and found them to consist of " Burnt Sttgwr. and flavoring matter," and the certificates ] nave proved to be all forgeries. It is for this reason that I step out ■of the ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who require the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and-one,, moreover, who hag made this his especial study. * Dr L.
