WANGANUI.
This day. At the inquiry held this morning into the death of the boy who was shot by his father on Saturday.; the jury found a verdict of accidental death, caused by gunshot wounds. ■■■•>- Saturday. The inquiry as to the collision between the Tui and the Kennedy ended this afternoon. Mr G. Ward, E.M., delivered the judgment of the Court that Capt. Williams, of the Kennedy, displayed an error of judgment in following so closely after the Tui, which latter vessel was then under the control and guidance of the pilot. At the same time the circumstances of the case did not warrant the Court in suspending Capt. Williams' certificate. He was adjudged to pay the costs, £4 17s. Mr Ward was further of opinion that imme* diately before and during the collision the masters of both steamers displayed considerable presence of mind, and took precautions which prevented more serious results. ■-■'■■■
