The petty officers of the Diamond enter* tamed the petty officers of the German warship Carola at dinner last night;
The Northern Club banquetted the Governor last night. His Excellency, in replying to a toast, said he would do all that lay in his power to benefit the people of New Zealand. In view of the completion of the Panama Canal, with Auckland's geographical position, splendid harbor, and the South Sea Island trade, it did not require far-seeing persons to predict for it greatness in the no distant future.
Mahuki and his followers are extremely docile in captivity. '
The racehorses Reform, Buzzard, and Ladybird arrived here yesterday.
