NELSON.

Yesterday. Francis James Hodgson, who was formerly teller at the Nelson branch of the National Bank, was charged at the Police Court with larceny of 500 soys. belonging to the bank. Mr Black, the manager, stated that the money was missed in 1881, but of the theft there was not proof until October last. The accused admittd having received from him a bag containing 10D0 soys. in error for one of 500. The accused also said he planted 300 &ovs. in Christcburoh, and speculated with the re« mainder in hopes to repay the whole. He was committed fpr trial, bail being allowed, himself in £500, and two sureties of £250 each.
