Bbokxbb: Brokers' Association. Managing Direotob: C. B. Stone, Esq. ' SICEST-a-ST, PBOTSW.i J. 0. Berger. The object of tb!s Company is ti provide tonnage suitable to the growing trade of the Port of Auckland, so that the imports and exports of our city may be as much as possible parried in I CilliT OWN.BD VESSELS, and the shipping business carried on by a pobeoy 7 OAt. COMPANY. ■ The ates of freights current n thi3 colony i j»pa>e mo t favonbly* with lho<e ruling in neighboring colonic, and are r3 a rule sufficiently remunerative to leave a good profit, (r ding hen •:• e't er foreign or intercoloiiil. The aeknowlrdg. d daily i icreJ3;ng rommermercial importaace of Aucklnnd is a source of gratification, and the shipping trade, under Bkilful management, and with sufficient ! rapitftl, would meet with speedy and gre t development with many p.rta of the World with which we are at pr< ent no; in abso^ut ely I direst communication. I The object of this Company is to provide T ssela to trade in the directions already opened, und others which may 1' om time to time offer induccmen's. lhere is ample room for a well-organised new line between Auckland and London, Liverpool md Glasgow, with New Y< rk, and with tome of the larger cjnfrcs of Continent?! European t' dps. Of < ourse, ■he large and increasing export of balk end sawn limber wi'l form m important adjunct. A trade with Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Ac., being alre.iriy established could < asily be continued with regularity, whilst the Newotieand Groymoutb cor.l t:r lea should be also provided for.
There is a vast field ia prospective for a good liude with A > erica, Mauritius, China, Manilla, Calcutta, The Capa, Noumea, and numerous foreign porls, with some of which, even at the present moment, a profitable direct trade is being can if d on in a desultory manner, and which would find) support from the new industries lately established here and in prospective establishment.!.
The Company do not propose to limit themselves to running their own vessels, bat will from time to time charter vessels when required, in the event of iheir own not being immediately available. Messrs Stone Bros., who have for some lime carried on a good shipping business, and who have now fairly started a new London line, possess the nucleus of a[fleet suitable for cominencing operations, and arrangements have bren made to take over I heir vessels and the goodwill of their shipping business for the sum of thirty thousand six hundred and fifty pounds (£30,650), they taking half the amount in Company's shares. Their fleet, consisting of 8 vessels, with aggregate tonnage of 2642 tons, should be augmented r« soon a: posß ble, so that the business may be extend) d without delay, especially the London and American branchr >.
The-servic-s of Mr G. B. Stone, as managing director, and the staff at present under his control, who are exper'enced in this lino of business, have been secured to take office under the new Company. It is further proposed that <he working expentes should be conducted on strictly economical principles, the expense of agencies ai:d branches to be defrayed out of rommisxions on the actual freights earned by those branches. The proposed capital is eefc down at £150, CCO, bat as only a small portion is r, quired at present for the purchase of the existing fleet and contingent expenses, further capital will not be called up unfc 1 vessels suitable for the London and other trades may offer for srle at easonahle pricea, until which lime it is pro- ' posed to charter vessels n required to supplement the present fleet. It is proposed to invite all Auckland bu?i-ness-men and all who may have any int -rest in the trade of our port to take BharPßin this local Company, and to give the undertaking 'every possible support. The Company woult thus be in a measure gelf-suppo.'ting, and strong enough to comp-t • mou successfully with any. out 3de or foreign company or foreign shipping. The Comnany could then not fail to be a credit to our port, and a mo t i lucrative investment to Share-holders. The promoters having every confidence in the success of the undertaking, now appeal to the public to ensure it by Bubsjribing freely for Sh»r. s.
