The dynamite epidemic is taking a great hold on the minds of the various Nihilistic societies and other bands formed for political ■ purposes in Europe. From the telegrams published in another column it will be seen that England is not alone in a state of ferment. Russia sfems paralysed, and the coronation of the Czar has been again postponed. A well knowu German journalist openly advocates the slaughter. of monarchs, and recent news from Europe shows that societies, whose objects are a redresssal of alleged wrongs of the people, exist in other countries. This alarming stale of things must lead to a very unsatisfactory conclusion. Should the demands made by the anarchists be granted, the strength' | of governments will be a. thing, of the past; yet, should those requests be ignored, there can. be no doubt that a most terrible time will come: in , the many countries, suffering* The various associations have proved stronger than the authorities were at first inclined to think, and it is very difficult to I say now where conciliation could intervene. -It is quite clear that the j growth of dissatisfaction with many , existing - laws , has been so great, as to astonish those who ignored it, until they saw what, determination and organisation i would do, and now a master-mind is ; wanted, to grapple with the fearful monster that threatens national peace and put. it. down with discretion i ,?:.nd a. firm hand. The thing is no bugbear, and the sooner.it is looked properly in the. faco, the greater chance there is of its-being overcome. ":\ :v
