WELLINGTON.
Yesterday,
At the official inquiry into the stranding of the barque Conference, at Wellington Heads, on the 16th mst., the Court delivered the,following judgment:—" The Court is of opinion that the accident was attributable to the vessel over-running her distance while putting her round, caused by a change of wind from N. to N.E., and to the vessel getting sternway on; at the same time the Court is of opinion that the captain stood too long on a starboard tack before going about." The Court also pointed out that big draft sai ing vessels should be cautioned in using the sailing directions given in the Wellington almanac far working into port-on the west side, and would warn the masters to be more cautious in future. The captain to pay the costs, £5. A meeting of creditors was held to-day in the estate of Henry Mace. A motion recommending his immediate discharge was carried unanimously.
