HOKITIKA.
Yesterday. Affidavits hare been filed in the Supreme Court, by Messrs Seddon, Jack, and Bae,—three candidates at t c late election for the Board of Educationalleging that four School Committees were allowed by the Secretary of the Board to withdraw their original voting papers and substitute new ones with other names. The complainants have taken this step in the hope of upsetting the election and getting themselves returned, they having, it is alleged by them, obtained a majority of votes in the first instance. The Secretary of the Board obtained a solicitor's opinion before hand ing back the voting papers to the effect that he could legally accept second votiug papers. Local subscriptions are being raised to prosecute the action. The Boss No. 2 Company's shares have been more than fully subscribed, aud the list closes od April 3rd. An; accident occurred this forenoon to the Kumara coach on its way to Hokitika seven passengers being more or less injured. Mr Seddon, M.H.R., and Mr Emerson, Inspector of Police, are cut and injured about the legs, but the injuries are cot serious.
