.zJAmms John.Shaw-and-Sonr,-of 37,- Mark Lane, London, report, through their agent. Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Chrintehurch, that the market during the fortnight ending January 25th, was in a' very"excited "state. A& might have been expected the universal shortness of crops and the acknowledged lightness of stocks, were producing their natural effect in enhancing prices- all round. Red cjover seeds must be written fully 3s to 4s. dearer, and white clover from 6s to 3b per cwt. dearer, at which advance agood many purchases bad been made by speculators, the impression being that prices would go a good bit higher ere long ; fine Alsyke was from 2s to 3s per owt. dearer, and choice trefoil Is per owt. "dearer; foreign (Italian) was quiet at late' rates; canary, although' in slow request, was firm; hemp seed was dull; rape was firm.
