Yesterday. George Robertson, the well known Maori wrestler, published a challenge to wrestle with Joseph Strong, the present holder of the border championship for the sum of £50 a-side and the championship. It has been demonstrated that nothing but sand exists on the bar, at any rate to a depth of 34 feet, and the Board's engineers hold out expectations that wide training walls to secure the tidal scour will clear it all out. — At the Police Court, to>day, a tradesman was charged with drunkenness.: He had been arrested about 2 p.m. in one of the principal strets,-and he assorted the constable beckoned to him across the street to arrest him. Two respectable witnesses, one of whom had had a glass of wine with him a quarter of an hour before the arrest, declared the prisoner was sober beyond question, and the Bench discharged him.
