TAURANGA.

This day. News from Taupo states that during the last week several shocks of earthquake have been felt there; one of unusual severity occurred about x l 2 o'clock on Tuesday. A tremor bf^the ground was felt for about six seconds; the shock was so violent that it half emptied a glass of water. The oscillation of the earthquake wares was from north west to south east. It is not known if Tongariro is in any way active, as the volcano has been cloudcapped for last week.
