One day a party of men, including Jackson, the man of big feet, .were preparing to attend a political barbecue. It was soon discovered that there. wa« no way of conveying Jackson, as all the vehicles were full. " Let me ride that mule over there ?" asked Jackson. "There, isn't a man, in the world that can ; ride that animal. He'll work to a buggy or plow, but no one can stay on his back." t " I'll try him anyway; " and the determined man instructed several negroes to catch the. mule and hold him.
