MOTHERS.

Mothers, remember the great responsibility resting upon .you in rearing and training 1 your children, directing their childish thoughts in the proper channel, teaching them every moment by your conduct before them correct action, for their infantile minds are constantly expanding, and receiving impressions which leave their remembrance upon them perhaps to be acted upon in future. Deal with them firmly, so they will respect! your words of counsel and obey you; chide them gently when they erif; sympathise with their childish sorrows over "some broken toy, perhaps, which grieves their little hearts as bitterly as great misfortunes will tbe aged. Seek their confidence in all matters be they great or small, and let them realise that mother will always have moments of leisure for her little ones' joys or sorrows. Provide suitable amusements for rainy days, so they will be happy, and impress upon them habits of neatness and cleanliness, strict regard for truthfulness, punctuality in the fulfilling of a promise, and charitableness of thought and expression. Do this by example as also by precept. Let them see and know that home is tbe dearest, happiest spot on earth, so they will not seek pleasure abroad, and.when tbey jjrow old, or'become young men and women, memory will revert to the home of their youth with fond recollections, aud the remembrance of mother's wishes and words of loving admonitions will save them from future evil, knowing that mother's prayers have descended daily for the good of 'her little ones.
