Wangantji, Yesterday. Stakes Handicap, of 250 sots. 2 miles. — King Qaail, 9st 41bs. 1; Buzzard, 7at 6lbs, 2; Dan, Bst 71bs, 3. Sweet Home, 6st 71bs, Wilberforce, 7st, Annuity, 6st lOlbs, Constellation, 6st 81bs, Fame, Bst, Leonata, 7st, Oka to, 6st 71bs, Parera, 7st 91bs, Painter, 6st 12lbs, Hailstorm, Bst 121bs, and Egmont, 6st 7lbs, were all scratched. Blue Gown led for the first round, but was passed by Buzzard, who in turn led to wifchin a quarter of a mile from the post, when Quail passed and won by 5 lengths. Time, 3mins 46secs.
Nuksery Handicap, of 60so»s: Coasul, 7st 121bs (Clifford), 1; Wairuaraka, Bst 51bs (Bermmer), 2; Lady Florence, 6st lOlbs (Hickie), 3. Artistand Pinafore also ran. Spennaker, Lionessa, and Tarn O'Shanter were scratched. This race resolved itself into a match between Consul and Wairuaraka, who came up (he straight locked together, CobsuJ seeming to lose his stride or change legs about fifteen lengths from home,—Wairuaraka at the same time also rolling about as they neared the post. Consul.was fairly lifted in by a short head ; Lady Florence a bad third, Pinafore and Artist being also outpaced. A protest was entexed against the winner by Wairuaraka's rider, who stated that Clifford caught hold of the filly's bridle and interfered with her when coming past the third enclosure. The stewards, after hearing a mass of contradictory evidence, saw no reason to upset the Judge's verdict. Time, lmin 20secs.
District Race Handicap, of 200sovs: Mystery, 6st 71bs (Gravestock), 1; Dan, Bst. lOlbs (Taylor), 2; Fame, 6st lOlbg (McCormick), 3. The Gem, Armourer, and Constellation also ran. St. Clair, Sincerity, JST«ata, Wilberforce, Last Chance, Blue Gown, Buzzard, and Sweet Home were scratched. Fame declared 6lbs over weight. After some fiddling at the post Mr Higgie sent them away to an indifferent start, Fame showing in front for a short distance, but beiog pulled back. Constellation cut out the running at a good pace, with the Gem and Armourer in close order; Mystery, Fame, and Dan waiting for the pace to tell on the leaders. At the back of the course Mystery was taken to the front, and sailed home an easy winner. Dan just taking the second place from Fame. Consolation Race : Hinemoa, 1 ; Laurel, 2; Buzzard, 3. Minerva, Sincerity, Blue Gown, Denleigb, and Rally also ran. Laurel led from the start until the first mile, Hinemoa then passed her and iron easily hard held. Time, 2mins 62-secs,
