DUNEDIN.
.Yesterday. The Press has taken up the question of the'"dummying" alleged to have taken place at the recent sales of deferred pay« ment pastoral lands. Both the Times and the Herald have articles this morning saying that the rumours are so circumstantial that they deserve serious consideration, and the Times suggests the appointment of a commission to thoroughly probe the matter.
Mr W. Green, M.H.8., as chairman of the Harbour Board employees, and of their branch of the Trades and Labour Society, wrote asking that the workmen on the steamers and dredges should be granted a half holiday on Saturdays. The Board carried a resolution that Mr Green be informed that any such reqaest from the men conld be considered only when made from the proper quarter, namely through the heads of their department.
