Melbourne, This day. The body of a man named Robert Harding, recently found in the water at Brighton with a wound in his throat, has been exhumed, as there are grave suspicions that deceased met with his death through foul play.

The other starters were Commotion and Cunnamulla. There was a great race between the three first horses. At the finish, Commotion (who was the farorite) was beaten by a distance.
