In yesterday's issue we stated that a Committee of .the County Council had resolved to telegraph to the Government detailing the damage done by the recent floods at Ohinemuri, The following tele-
gram was despatched by th«. County Chairman this morning :—" There was a heavy flood in Ohinemuri last week, and the Surveyor, who has just returned, esti» mates the damage as follows: —Bridge lately erected bj Tauranga County Council, £350; bridge over Ohinemuri on Katikati road,-£300; three small bridges on same road. £150; damage between old Taurantra crossing and Thorp's, £250; Owharoa bridge, £150; to replace ferry at Mackaytown. £15; do. Paeroa wharf, £150; total, £1365. T! ese damages have occurred in the goldfields proper, no part of which is rateable, the Government holding the freehold. Can you help us in the difficulty, as we have no funds and a heavy bank overdraft to provide for by the 30th September next. .— AIEXANDEE BeODIE.''
