Consols are quoted at 102f, an advance of f. There are no changes to report in New Zealand securities or in Colonial produce. A good demand was experienced at to»day's wool auction. The catalogue comprised 12,000 bales.

The Parliamentary Committee appointed to consider the revision of the Customs tariff has-recommended the introduction of a' bill providing for increased duties upon metals as metal goods.

: It is believed that neither Sheridan nor Byrne will be surrendered by the American and French Governments, unless strong evidence is forthcoming of the complicity of the accused in Irish assassinations. Byrne, who was recently arrested in Paris, pleaded an alibi, and has not yet been given up by the French authorities.
It is stated to be probable that Mr Childers, in making the Budget statement after the Easter recess, will show a deficit of one million sterling at the close of the financial year.
The cargo of meat in the "Chimborazo, from Melbourne, has arrived in excellent condition.

The Tariff Bill has been finally passed by Congress. The effect of the reductions made will be to increase the debt by the estimated sum of seventy-five million dollars. Eates on wool have been reduced by 18 per cent..

The silver wedding of the German Crown Prince of Gerdaany has been celebrated with eclat at Berlin.
