Tbe picked stone and specimens accumulated during the month were pot through the single stamper at the Albania mill today. Cleaning up and retorting takes place to-morrow morning.

DEEP LEVM. CROSS. A second retorting took place this morning for the result of 2Oozs gold, making tbe total return for the month, after melting, ; 3420z5. The quantity crushed was 142 loads. The Moanatairi mill having stopped crashing, th» manager has made arrangements for a supply of stamps at the Herald battery, and 15 head were started on company'! quartz this morning. . .>.. Since the cleaning up last weekUCf lons of general stuff have been passed through j the stamps for the good yield of 42ozs 4dwts gold, bringing up the total return for operations since Christmas to 4070zs 3dwtß gold from only 205 tons of quartz. DART. A distance of 9 feet has been suuk since last Saturday, making the depth of the shaft 58 teet below No. 2 lerel, and having only 22 feet to sink to the bottom of the well-hole. The leader has nearly, dipped out of the pump shaft. It is from two to four inches wide, and carries a considerable percentage of favorable mineral, though no gold has yet been seen. The quartz is being saved for crushing. The country is good working ground, but on--the footwall of the lead it is rather tighter than on the hangingwall. A little water is making in the shaft, bat not enough to cause inconvenience. - ■_ ZFJEANUI HILt. ' The footwall lead. Which dipped away from the winze, has been cut at the 80ft level. It is about a foot wide,'heavily mineralised, and looks well. No gold has been seen, but as yet very little of the leader has been broken down. The ■men, . have started to drive eastward on it. Itis probably identical with Cook's leader. The manager is at present carrying a leading slope back westward on tho Wheel of Fortune lode, so as to get the drive • timbered up as quickly as possible.
