Thames Valley Railway.

The usual meeting of the directors was held in the -Borough 'Chambers on the 26th. Those letters enclose lists of blocks of land within and without the fifteen mile area, which you ask " may be withdrawn from sale and reserved for the purposes of the proposed railway, under the Rrailways Construction and Land Act, 1881." 3. lam to say that the Govern ment desire to be informed, what is the present position of the Thames Valley Railway Company (Limited); how many shares have been taken up; names of shareholders, and what amount has been paid as deposits ; and what guarantee the company proposes to give that the work of constructing the railway will be commenced and carried on without unreasonable delay ? I am also to desire that there may be forwarded a copy of the I memorandum and articles of'association. 4. Meanwhile, the Government will request the Land Board not to offer for sale any of the lands indicated by you, which are within the fifteen-mile area. —I have, &c , E. Fox, Secretary to the Cabinet. — The Secretary stated tbat he would forward the necessary information and the Articles of Association, but the complete share list could not be sent until the Auckland list is received. —The Secretary was authorised to telegraph to the Mayor asking him to proceed from Tauranga, where be now is, direct to Cambridge, and get Mr Sheehan to accompany him to Auckland for the purpose of procuring the applications for shares promised to be taken up by Auckland residents.—lt was further resolved that all the information requested* should be forwarded before Messrs Fiaser and Graham visit Wellington, as was agreed upon at the previous meeting.—The Secretary was re quested, to inform Mr Eitso as to the date of the visit of the delegates.
