ALBURNIA.

Two parcels of quartz are now at the battery, one of them being from the stopes on Dixon's reef above the intermediate level. Five head are employed on one lot, and fire will be started on the other parcel to-day. DAET. A leader was come upon early this morning in the-north-western oorner of the pump shaft, at a depth of 45 feet from No. 2 level. Up to dinner time none of it had been broken, but the manager is of opinion that it will prove to be the specimen leader worked with such good results at and above No. 2 level, where it junctions with ISTo. 1 reef, and is at the nearest point abont 20 feet from the shaft, towards which it is dipping. The leader was broken down this afternoon, but no gold was seen in it. DEEP LEVEL CEOSS. The manager reported on Wednesday. as follows:—-The reef in the stopes is looking much better than it.did. Gold is being seen m»re regularly through the quartz, and about SOlbs of picked stone hare come to hand since my last. I resumed driving on the cross leader on Monday. It is now about 8 inches in thickness, and since we commenced again several dabs of gold have been seen in the quartz in breaking it down, but the country near the leader is rather tight. At the 040 feet level the contractors are making good progress with the south drive. They are driving now about 20 feet a week.. It is very kindly looking country, and easily worked, and will require to- be timbered. Driving i 3 still beiDg continued on the Mariner's reef at this level. The drive is about six feet in width, the most of it being quartz. The foot wall portion of it is a strong body of quartz 30 inches in thickness, and some of it looks promising. On the top of this there are stringers of quartz running through the mullock, but we have got no regular bangingwall, as this is only a portion of the reef that we are taking with us. Crushing ; We have still 20 head of stampers going at toe Monataiari nine hours per day, and there is on hand now 2520z5, of amalgam. The general, dirt to all appearances is going about an ounce to the load. I intend to clean up at the end of the month, when I will inform you of the result. GOLD EETUENS. Albubnia.—-Sullivan and party have crushed -1 loads at the Company's mill for the return of 4ozs 15dvrt3 gold.
