This day. Judge Gillies has sent a ireply to the Law Society,: going at great length into his judgment in the case the Queen v. Gudgeop. It is whispered that the Judge denies having made the statements reported. ' Probably the warmest part of the discussion las yet to come. Messrs. Brodie, Fraser, and Murdoch, delegates to the Presbyterian Conference, ere being*congratulated for their new interest in Church matters. I It is rumored that a warrant has been issued against the master of one of the charitable institutions on a charge of rape. While Mr Rolleslon is in Auckland now, it is his intention to make further arrangements for the survey and opening up of Crown Lands, for which purpose i money was appropriated by Parliament last session. v He will remain in Auckland till Saturday, and perhaps a few days ' Jonger. ? An enquiry will be held to«morrow by ' Capt. Daldy, Col. Haultain, and Mr Shirley Hill re the allegation of immoral 1 conduct made by a girl named Mary Wetherell, aged 19, formerly an inmate of ' the Howe street Industrial School, against ' Hogan, lately a master of tbat institution, but now master of the ICohimaruma School. The offence is alleged to have been committed 12 months ago.
