The Wesleyan-Metaodist Conference.

ADDRESS OF WELCOME TO SIR Wlvf. JERVOIS.

[Pee Pbess Association.] Wellington, This day. The Conference of the Wesleyan-Metho dist Church, which recently met at Auckland, baring decided to present an address of welcome tn Sir Wm. Jervois, the Rev. Rainsford Bavin, President of the Conference, who had been deputed for the purpose, waited on His Excellency on Thursday afternoon, and presented the following address:—"To Mr Wm. Jerrois.—May it please Your Excel-lency,—-We, the Annual Conference of the Wesleyan-Metbodist Church of New Zealand congratulate your Excellency upon your appointment as Governor of this colony. The Methodist Church hs ever been loyal'to the British Throne, and, we honor you as the representative * of the Sovereign whose virtues command our love and esteem. Recognising that your Excellency's administration must be closely connected with the social, moral, and religious interests of New Zealand we write in prayer that you may be richly f endowed with wisdom that comes from above, and may, under the guidance of Almighty God, see the best interests of New Zealand prosper. Wishing your Excellency and Lady Jervois every blessing, we are, your Excellency's humble servants. —(Signed) Bamsfobb Bavin, President; Henbyßull, Secretary." His Excellency read the following reply:—"To the members of the Annual Conference of the Wesley an Methodist Church of Few Zealand,— Gentlemen, —I heartily appreciate your expressions of loyalty to the British Throne, and of love and esteem towards the person of Her Majesty, and your kind words of welcome.to me as Her representative. It shall be my earnest endeavor whilst I am amongst you, to do all in my power to promote the social, moral, and religions interests of the people of this colony, and I sincerely valne your prayers on my behalf.—Lady Jervois desires to unite with me in thanking you for your good wishes.—(Signed), W. F. Drummond Jebvois." M
