COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the above body was held yesterday, at which the following Councillors were present:—A. Brodie (Chairman), W. Fraser, A; Porter, G. W. Bull, W. Deeble, Jas; Coutts abdW. Murdoch. It was resolved to grant the request subject to the Regulations.—With reference to the | amount of water used by the pump of the . - Queen of Beeuty Company, the Chair- . man reported that the "statements he made at tbe last meeting were perfectly correct, notwithstanding their denial byv Mr : George Black. That gentleman had measured the water by sluice boxes made in accordance with the Goidfields Begulations, whereas the'proper authority wus set forth in the County Regulations wbioli. were Leased upon* the Mines Act of 1877.' He moved that the Queen of Beauty Company .be informed that their state* ment in regard to their water supply is incoriecfe,- and -that the. sluice -.boxes isliould be' mede according- to 'the r'egula* Vions, of which copies had been supplied to them, and the Mines Act.
