An accident occurred to-day on board the Oamarti Harbour Board's new dredge, which is being fitted up at Fort Chalmers, Men were employed hoisting a four-ton condenser, when one of the shear poles used for hoisting broke, striking a work™ man named Basire. Ho now lies in the hospital in an unconscious state. This day. Messrs Ferguson and W. Home were admitted to the Bar to day. Emir Bey has been scratched for all his engagements at the Duoedin meeting. Mr Keith Bamsay, the shipping agent, received the following from Fortrose :— The Pioneer, schooner, struck the bar and drifted on a rock at East Head. A heavy sea is breaking over her, and she is likely to become a total wreck. The crew have landed.
