Thames Harbor Board.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held yesterday afternoon in the Borough Chambers. Present—Messrs Fraser, (Chairman), Bagnal), Marshall, Head, MoGowan and Bull.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Amongst the correspondence was a letter received from the County Council notifying the appoin<ment of Mr G. Bull as representative of the County Council on the Board.—Mr J. C. Williams wrote objecting to Mr Butcher receiving permission to ereefca- weir in the lower part of the Thames River.—A report on the subject of Mr Butcher's application recommended that the Board cannot help Mr Butcher by a money grant, but they should give him Maxwell's wharf, also that he be allowed to erect a fishing weir, provided the navigation of the river be not interfered with.—The consideration of the report and letter above referred to was deferred until the new Harbormaster should report on the question.—The Harbormaster reported the wharf to want repairs, recommended the wharf approach to be filled in with mullock and made solid, and suggested other small works in connection with the Shortland Wharf. It waa resolved that the recommendations of the report be carried out —'It was decided not to accept any contract for timber at present owing to the unsatisfactory state of the market.— Messrs Morrin and Co., Auckland, were the only tenderers for the supply of ironwork, and .their tender was accepted as per schedule.—The monthly accounts were passed for payment — Seventeen applications for the position of Harbor Master were received, and eventually Mr T. C.; Bayldon received the appointment.
