In the disputed claim as to £503 between Ponsonby Ward, just added to the city, and the Auckland Borough, Mr Fitzgerald, the Auditor-General, has given an award in favour of Ponsonby. At a meeting of the Philson Testimonial Committee to day, Messrs J. B. Russell, Ewiugton, and W. C. Daldy were appointed a committee to arrange for the presentation at as early a period next week as is convenient to Dr Philson.
. The Wesleyan Conference was occupied during the day in considering reports on the co'nnectional funds and foreign missions. Mr Crump was appointed Editor of the New Zealand Wesleyan. Resolutions on the Methodist Union were unanimosly adopted, and a committee of four ministers and four laymen appointed to confer thereon. The statistics show an increase of 569 members.
In the case of Samuel Ramus v. James Buckland, a claim for £236 on a promissory note with interest, arising out of a betting transaction with Weston, the bookmaker, Judge Gillies summed up in favor of the plaintiff, but the jury gavei a verdict on the issues in favor or the defendant. "](";-■ ■ .
