WELLINGTON.

Tbisday,

Rather a curious case has just been dealt with by the Law Society. That body recently discovered that a certain solicitor, who left Auckland some two or three years ago, was practising in the Bangitikei district without having taken out the necessary, certificate. Proceedings were taken against him at Wellington, and a fine of £-50 imposed at the instigation of the AttorneyGeneral. To enforce the payment of the amount, a writ was issued and sent to the sheriff at Wanganui for execution, and in due course the delinquent was brought down to this city. The fine has just been paid, -and the erring lesjal luminary released from custody.
