This day. The Auckland Land Society has a credit balance of £500.
The lowest tender for the Bank of New Zealand premises at Cambridge is £4250.
In anticipation of the arrival of Mr Bryce, a great number of natives have assembled at Eawhis. The meeting is looked upon as an important one, notwithstanding the absence of Tawhiao. and the principal chiefs; but there is an uncertainty about the nature of the pro* ceedings which the natives do not under* stand.' They do not expect Mr Bryce until tomorrow, and the meeting will not take place until Friday, but in the meantime the natives are coming in from the out-districts: There is not likely to be any opposition to the action of the Government in cutting up the township, but some of the leading men look upon it with anything but favor. They think naturally that if the township is established ; 44 acres will not be sufficient for the Europeans, and that trouble may arise among the natives by persons being induced to sell more land. On the whole they do not disapprove of Mr Brvce's action; they consider him a hard but truthful man.

A South African diamond digger made application to the Waste Lands Board this afternoon for a prospecting license to search for diamonds in Raglan County. The Board decided to recommend the granting of a license providing the license is not exclusive.
At the Police Court to-day a man was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for usiDg indecent language.
The District Engineer states that he expects to receive instructions to proceed with the swamp drainage works at Te Aroha by the next southern mail.
