The |winze > is down 40 feet, and the reef in the bottom is a fine body of quartz, well mineralised, and nine inches or a foot wide. Good dabs of'gold have been seen iin it lately, and some was visible this [morning. On the footwall a small stringer I about half en inch wide is showing. This ■ has shown gold freely, and yielded a few gocd pieces of stona. Another small j leader, branching off from the reef on the left hand side, and turning sharp into it again about the middle of thd winze, [yielded a few pounds of rich stone last night. The country continues all that could be desired. The crosscut on : the break is in about 15 feet, and will be pushed forward in order to connect with the workings on the new reef acd improve the ventilation of the cifosscut. In this 1 the manager hrs stopped work in the face, where the country was so tight, and started about 15 feet back, on the lefthand side. At this point a small break was inteisec sd, and this is being followed. The,new face is in about 90 feet from No. 2 reef, and the country is ac excellent class of sandstone. The maca* ! ger had a survey made of the reef lately cut in vie Deep Level Crocs, aud fincls that it is striking more to the_ northward than he at first supposed. The new crosscut '.a therefore going direct for it, and should ako escape the hard bar referred to. The s opes ape in full swing. No. 4 west of the b^eak is.now above where a good show was visible in the reef at the time shares rose so rapidly. The reef is small here, but of good quality, good store being bagged c..eh breaking, lewfr. of picked cone and-specimens w^ere obtained lest week.
