The final adjustment of the accounts of the City of Glasgow Bank shows the following figures -—Total amount receired m respect of calls, £5,991,766. Of this amount £194,036 has been used for the purposes of liquidation, and the remaining £5,797,729 has been required to discharge the bank debts. An exchange innocently remarks:-* " A blackfellow at Thornborough, Queensland, recently tomahawked his gin." We bare heard of a man quarrelling with bii whisky, but the gin destroyer givei him points.. . . . When luck knocks at the door it often finds the man inside too lazy to lift tbj latch.
