THE PATH OF LIFE.
Look upon this path to-night, . Leading to the realms of light, As the skylark wings its flight* ',' ■r\ ■> There are shadows on it now* Withered leaves and winter snow-, Clouds above and thorns below. Heed them not, nor look behind, Tranquil heart and noble mind; Stay no more the lost to .find. Friendship passed like spring time's flower! Beaten by the storms and show'rs ! Love was but for. sunny hours. 'Twas not friendship true and pure, Not the love that will endure, Standing with a footing sure. Weep not over things of olay, Born to pass from earth away—- . . Turif from night to-'xoay dayu- -- Follow thou the Prince of Peace He will bid thy troubles oeaso, He will all thy joyß increase. As a wind will stir, a lake Let His Name thy love awake; Soul of Man, thy love forsake f Bid adieu to doubt and fears, Lay aside thy foolish tears, Entering on thy nobler years. As the stars forsake thy sky Life's warm light will leave thine eye—• Soon to earth thou'lt say " Good-bye !" Peace or woe for thee shall wait: In thine hand is thine own fate— f Waken, ere it be too late. M.C.
