Another South Sea Outrage.
Supposed Lossjof thus Bjbd Coat and all V ■ Hands. " , .'„ Fears aw now entertained for the safety of the three masted schooner called the Bed Coat, reported overdue at Lev'uka. Jfecejatly a life-buoy,marked ** Taviona, Auckland," was found near Fly Hew Guinea, and it is thought this may have belonged to the tied Coat, as both • she and the Taviona belong to the same firm, while upon the »rrival of the surveying schooner L»rk this morning it was stated th'at;a sunken vessel was observed in 'that vicinity, during her cruise. It is, ' therefore, feared that the Red Coat's crew ; may have beep set upon by the natives, the vessel plundered and sunk. After leaving Auckland iho JKed Coat c'nanued nearly the whole of her crew, while Capt Wai to, who took her home, died shortly after reaching the Islands, so that most probably the vessel was wholly manned by Islanders. Some surprise is expressed at the Bed Coat being, in such a position, as her master was warned of the treacherous nature of the natives of that coast, and . being newly in command, it- was thought he would have acted.with greater care iv the selection of his cruising ground.
