There .will nobwitbstanding be a great scarcity of labor, as the crops are very heavy,-and there will be an enormous yield. At a Government sale of town sections held on Tuesday—the allotments being at a distance from the business part of the town and «poorly situated—exceptionally high prices' were realised. The land in Ashburton district is rapidly increasing in value consequent ou its magnificent crops, both and quality, , r-K David Thompson," engine-driver,' who met;with an accident yesterday, hua.recovered consciousness, and is,progressing favorably.,.;"
