Grice, Grace, and sixteen others were committed for trial to the Supreme-Court. Sail was allowedof £100, and two sureties of £50 each. MessrSE. Hewitt and J. O. Thompson became sureties for the^-lot. The decision was"' somewhat l ciirio'nsly jtiven. Mr Wells, J.P., has sat on the Bench jgitb -Mr Nprthcroftysince the opening of the case. After hearing the •tidence . and , considering the facts ttiat rifih'e i: native""witnesses' had be'en arrested -for .perjraryv Mr Wells, con-, eluded there was not a case. Mr Northcroft, however, determined ;tp w commit,.but, t Mr. Wells held ther,e.was. nothing ta commit upon, and expressed his intention, when he should be on the Bench, he would express himself against Mr. l^brthcrpft's decision. The E.M. came into the Court by himself,, and. gave judgment as above.
