Yesterday. "~ The heat during this morning and afternoon has been most intense, the theiv mometer at one time registering 150 decrees; in the shade. Several oases of sunstroke are reported, one being fatal, la one case a man named Sulhran,
b^lon^ing to Oamnru, was stricken down in the harvest field at Makikibi, brought into town by train, and conveyed to the hospital, where he lies in an unconscious state. In the second case a young man named D. Hutchison, working in a field at Teko Flat, was struck and died in a few minutes. A number of milder cases are also reported.
An old man named 'Yankee Sam fell into the fire at Waihi bush to day, and was seriously burned. His life is considered in danger. ;
. In. Alexandra South, in Central Otago; to-day, the beat was 146 degrees in the sun et half-past 7 p.m. This is hotter than ever before experienced. We are having remarkably warm weather also in Dunedin.
