Rumors were circulated on Saturday that Priestly was dead, bat they proved untrue.
The Chief Justice telegraphed to Justice Gillies that the vacation for the year is to commence on the 6th of February, and terminate on the 22nd of March inclusive. The consequence of this change will be that civil and divorce business for the ensuing Circuit; Court which opens on the 17th inst., willj be taken - immediately after the criminal calendar is exhausted, j ; ; ; The police to-day recovered $25 fworth of jewellery in'the bilgo«waterj>f the" steamer Wellington. ■y.jtriw. updftrstood that all the prisoners, except one, have made a clean breast'of the affair. The prisoner who maintains silence is supposed to know the whereabouts of £300 worth more of the,missine property.
