Mugs!
JBernhardt'B osculation is a convulsive hug accompanied by a kiss that seems to come from the'back of the spine, but which has no explosion in it. Eanny JDavenporfc has a different style. She catches Armand just as a West Philadelphia girl does a fellow she means to marry, gives him a tender yet robust squeeze, and kisses him with a fervour that can be heard clear down at the Custom House. If Edward Price gets 'em regularly in private life he ought to be satisfied. Mary Andersen's kisses are delivered at a temperature about 40 degrees below zero. Scott Siddons' kiss is a peck like a bird, and a chirp that sounds like a chirp. Janauschek'a kisses are rare and matronly. They come with words that are growled forth from a deeply bedded diaphragm, and are mere touches, not like Soldene's used to be in the old days, when she gave her 'stage lovers the full benefit of the mammoth cave that yawns across her face.
