AUCKLAND.

Saturday. A well known character, named Burke, was fined £5 and costs at the Police Court for a breach of the Pawnbroker's Act, by advancing money on a watch and demanding interest. The police had their eye on this man for some time, but he could not be caught till Detective Walker at last tripped him. Mr R. J. DeLias, the well known theatrical speculator, is dead. A pine mast, imported by Mr Waymouth for the yacht Observer, and lying at the Bhipyard of Mr Blsckoy, was found half sawn through this morning. There is no chance of replacing it before Regatta ; Geo. Olaen, charged with the attempted murder of his wife, was remanded for floren days. Alex. McPherson, alias Person, was fined £5 and costs for indecent exposure. Albert John Fißher, of the Occidental Hotel, was charged with unlawfully beating and assaulting Sarah Fisher, in Vulcan Lane, on the 3rd inst.; and Sarah "^Fisher was charged with assaulting and beating Albert John Fisher with her fists and parasol, and threatening to waylay and settle him, in consequence of which threats complainant went in fear of his life. Mr Hudson Williamson appeared for Mrs Fisher, and Mr Earl for Mr Fisher. After hearing the evidence His Worship said it was not creditable to either party. The charge against Fisher was dismissed, and Mrs Fisher was orderedjto find two sureties in £10 each to keep the peace for six months. A lad named Mayne was thrown from a horse at Ellerslie, receiving concussion of the brain.
