Davenport, Esq., 33, Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London.—"Dear Sir, —We embrace this opportunity of congratulating you upon the widespread reputation this justly esteemed medicine, De. Collis Bbowne'b Chlobodine, has earned for itself, not. only in Hindostan, but all over the East, its a remedy of general utility, we much question whether a better is imported into the country, and we shall be glad to hear of its finding a place in every Anglo-Indian borne. The other brands, we are bappy to say, are now relegated to the native bazaars, and, judging from tbeir sale, we t ncy their sojourn there will be but evanescent. We could multiply instances ad infinitum of the extraordinary efficacy of Db Colxis Bhownb'b Chiobodtne in Diarrhoea and Djt-nteiy, Spasms, Cramps, Neuralgia, the Vomiting of Pregnancy, and as a general sedative, that nave occurred under our personal observation during many years. In Choleraic Diarrhoea, and even in the more terrible forma of Cholera itself, we have witnessed its surprisingly controlling power. We have never used 'i any other form of this medicine than CoDis Browne's, from a firm conviction that it is i decidedly the best, and also from a sense of duty we owe to the profession and the public, as- ■-■ we are of opinion "that the substitution of any other than Collis Browne's is a delibeeatb BBEACH OP TAITH ON THE PAET OV THE CHEMIST TO PBESCBIBEB AKD PATIEST AIIKB. Extract from the General Board of Health, London, as to its efficacy in Cholera; —"So strongly are we convinced of the immense value of this remedy that we cannot too forcibly urge the necessity of adopting it in all cases." ■ CAUTION.—None genuine without the words "Dr J. Medical "Is there no hope ? the sick man said The Bilent doctor shook his head." While there is life there's hope, he said " JEgroto, dum animas est, spes esi." DEL. L. S M I T H (The only legally-qualified medical man advertising). OOKBT L I B — On all affections of the Nervous Syßtem) no matter from what cause arising). On all broken-down constitutions. On all diseases arising from early t indisoretions. On Gout. On Rheumatism. In these colonies those excesses which we have indulged in " hot youth " tel upon us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repining futile. The sole idea should be the chance we possess of remedying the ills we already have, for combatting the effects likely to result.Hide it as he may, put on as good an exterior aa he can, still is the victim conscious that he is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices will discover him to the world. Our. Faith, our obligations to socioty at large, the welfare of our future offspring, and the duty, we owe to ourselves forbids procrastination, and points out to us, not to wait till tho ravages break out in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a confidential clerk j before employing a barrister, a careful man makes enquiries as.their standing, their length of occupancy or residence j and, in the* case of a legal adviser, both as to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults him upon. Strange to say, however, in the selection of medical man, the sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions and without regard to the fitness, qualification, experience and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the nearest mant whoso experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in health, and-are bankrupt in spiritß, hope and money ? Have I not for years pointed out to them that I, Dr L. L. Smith, am the only legally qualified, medical man advertising in the Colonies i Have I not also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling,—such as Phosphodyne Essence of Life, &o. —and had them analysed and found them to consist of "Burnt Sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates 3 have pbov.eb to be all forgeries. It is for this reason that I step out of tho ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who require the services of my branch au opportunity of knowing thay can. consult a legally qualinod man, and one, moreover, who has made this his especial study. Dr L. L. Smith is the only legally q jsiified medical man advertising, and he has been in Melbourne 24 years, in full practice'on NERVOUS DISEASES LOSS OF POWER AND DEBILITY SYPHILITIC AFFECTIONS WANT Oi 1 CONDITION GOUT AND RHEUMATISM.
