Auckland Racing Club.

•SUMMER MEETING.

Third Day.

In addition to the result of events published in our last issue, the following completed tli6 programme of the Club's meeting :—

An unfortunate accident occurred during the Steeplechase. When within a short distance of the winning post, New Year, whose Jockey had mistaken the course, endeavored to get into the correct ground by trying to jump a fence, and rolling over the jockey's leg, broke it below the knee. iNew Year had a strong lead, in fact it was thought that the race was a, New Year's gift. Sympathy was expressed for Potfcer, the rider, and a subscription was opened for him on the course.

The next event to the Steeplechase was

For tliis event tho starters were The Poet, Virginia Water, Lone Hand, Fishwoman, and GHlderoy. After a good race The Poet won'by half a length. Lone Hand was second.

The last event of the meeting was the Consolation Handicap, which was won by Merlin, with Fishwoman in the second place. The attendance throughout the meeting was very good. On New Year's Day there could not have been much Jess .than 7000 on the course.
