Serious Accident.

A young man named John G. Davis, son of the late Rev. Mr Davis, who for some years was pastor of the Baptist Church here, was brought into town yesterday suffering from concussion of the brain. He was taken to the Hospital, and Drs Callan and Payne did all they could to restore him to consciousness, but up to this morning had not been successful. The accident came about as follows : Davis and two others were riding in from Te Aroha, and while crossing a bridge some miles from Paeroa, between three and four o'clock yesterday morning, the horses, which were abreast at the time jostled, throwing their riders. The other two were not hurt, but when Davis' mates came to pick him up, they found he was unconscious. They did what they could for him till the arrival of the coach, by which he was brought down.
