James Sraith, licensee of the Prince of Wales Hotel, was to-day fined 20s and costs for refusing admittance ou Saturday night after hours. [Incomprehensible.— Ed.] • On the arrival of the Wakatipu here on Wednesday, Capt. Wheeler gave a steer age passenger into custody for stealing a small quantity of fruit from one of the cases stowed on deck. The bench sentenced the defendant to 48 hours' imprisonment, and hoped this would act as a warning to others who travel.
