NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.

BRIGHT SMILE.

The retorting yesterday produced the fine yield of 1120ozs gold, and another one this morning 44ozs 12dwts, making with the prerious return lodged a total for the month's work of 27840zs 12dwts Bold. This was reduced on melting to 27540zs 12dwts, an average per load treated of nearly 10Joz9. The directors have decided to declare a 7s diridend, which means the distribution of £6300, and makes a total of £9000, or half the value of the mine, paid away in dividends as the result of two months work. The chamber sets were placed in position yesterday, and the men commenced last night to sink the shaft. The crosscut west of the break, to intersect the Mariner's reef, will probably be started on Monday.

THAMES DEEP LEVEL TRIBUTE.

The contractors have extended the south crosscut 36 feet since starting three weeks ago. The country on the footwall of the reef just passed through is a good white sandstone, and of a better class for gold than that met with before the reef was cut.

In his last report to tho directors the manager says:—Since I have taken charge of your mine I have driven 90 feet on the reef at a cost of £1 2s per foot. I have opened up 66 feet of new ground eastward of Ara, towards the Jamaca and Candlelight ground. This carried gold as far as I have driven. I intend to keep the drive going ahead until I come under the McOabe's winze, for the richest gold that was obtained in those claims was got in the Jamaica. The block of ground now opened up will give as good returns as last crushing. I have proved part of the ground in the top level. I will get out crushiogs as as quickly as I can. I hope to be able to report a haul of specimens very soon.
