Ashbitbton, Yesterday. The match between Ashburton fifteen and the Auckland 11 commenced to-day, the local team going in first. The match was played on cocoanut matting. Wilding, a pretty bat, made a very long stand, and ran up a good score quickly, Robinson, Lankham, Dufaar, Grill, and Buckland all bowling. Scores:—Ashburton, Ist innings: Beeves, b Dufaur, 1; Thomas, run out, 6; Casteila, b Buckland, 0 ; Simpson, run out, Dufaur, 4; Wilding, not out, 50;. Praiue, b Buckland, 0 ; Denshire, hit wicket, b Buckland, 0; Maud, b Arneil, 0; Pisley, b Buckland, 0; Fookes, c and b Eobinson, b'; Andrews, st Buckland, b Eobinson, 7; Strachay, b Robinson, 11. Total for 11 wickets, 87. An adjournment for lunch was made at 1.30. Buchanan, Curtis, and Hosking to bat.

Auckland won by nine wickets.
