The Resident Magistrate's Court House, Baldutha, is st ted to have been densely packed on Wednesday with attendants. A young man named McNeil was oharged by a Miss Chumside with having shot at her with intent to kill. It was expected that the evidence taken would have revealed some very interesting features, but the case was withdrawn without evidence being taken at all; and, what was better, the respective parties, acting under their counsel's advica, adjourned to the nearest Registrar's office, and were made man and wife before they were twenty, minutes out of the Court.

Eeceipts for tbo week amounted to about 90 tons, making 400 tons produce for November- Butter remains plentiful at last week's rates, but eggs have again advanced and are sold at Is 3d per dozen, and Is 6d retail.
