Madagascar.
In the House of Commons to-day, in reply to a question, Sir Chas. Dilke, Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs stated that Government were giving all necessary attention to questions now affecting Madagascar, owing to the importance of English interests in that island. Obituary: " Mrs Browa." The death is announced to-day of George Rose (Arthur Sketchley). London, November 13. Judge Lwsoa's Intended Assassin. It has now been ascertained that the name of the would-be assassin of Judge Lawson is Delaney. He is a convict on ticket-oMeave, and well known to the police; the latter are sanguine that some valuable information will be obtained from the prisoner.
The Cloture. The debate on the Premier's proposed new rules for the form of procedure wil be continued in the House of Commons to day. Numerous amendments have already been proposed to the second rule, and a lengthy discussion is expected to result.
Caibo, Nov. 13 - AraWs Trial.
Lord Dufierin is urging the Egyptian Government to expedite the trial of Arabi and the other rebel officers. Later. It has transpired that, contrary to the understanding which was arrived at last month, the Commission of Inquiry appointed to conduct the prosecution of Arabi now declines to allow. the latter's counsel the right of cross-examining witnesses who gave evidence, for the prose^ cution. .

It is reported that an error amounting to one hundred thousand francs has been discovered in the French budget. As Judge Lawson was walking to his club protected by a police esoort, a ticket-
of-leave man named Carrigan approached him, holding a revolver concealed in his breast. He was promptly knocked down and arrested.
The petition of the wife of the Hon. Col. Wellesley for dissolution of marriage, on the ground of desertion and adultery with Kate Vaughan, the actress, has been granted. It is rumored in well-informed circles here that Sir Arthur Gordon will be reappointed Governor of Jamaica; Sir A. Musgrave, Governor of Ceylon ; and that Col. Sir W. Francis Drummond Jer.vois, K.C.M.G , at present Governor of South Australia, will be promoted to the Governorship of New Zealand, while Sir John Pope tfennessy will assume the Gover^ ship of Queensland
■ The Liberal minority on the cloture resolutions included 13 Home Rule members, while the minority included four Liberals and thirty-two Irish members. After Sir Stafford Northcote's amendment was dispo.sed of the Conservative party offered a determined resistance to the adoption of the original motion.
The Gambettisfc party in the French Chambers support the Government of M. Dnclerc.
Mr Gladstone at the Guildhall banquet said that he regarded the foreign relations of England, and its trade, at the present time as perfectly satisfactory.
