RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

THIS DAY

(Before H. Eenrick, Esq., R.M.) George Brady was charged with assaultting his wife on the 7th instant. Mrs Charlotte Brady deposed she was talking to a friend, Mrs Mills, in Willonghby street, and he came and struck her with his clenched fist on the face without provocation. Had a quarrel with him a day or two before. When he got a glass of drink it was a frequent thing. Defendant said be was a bushman and working for Henry Collins. He received two orders from him and sent them to his wife. These were cashed, and she went and told people he had never giv< jn her any money. Sbe went round the public houses and told them not to give him a glass of drink. She has been doing nothing but drink, and other men could, give her drink, She charged him with going with another woman which was not true, whereas he could prove she was an indifferent woman. Did not strike her. Charge dismissed, His Worship remarking there appeared to be faults on both sides. , Mrs Brady: It won't wash; will you sign a separation order, Brady ?
