DUNEDIN.

This day.

Two shocks of earthquake were experienced at Queenstown this morning. The second one was the most violent felt in the district, and lasted twenty seconds. The damage was confined to breakage of glass.

Mr Hackworth held a formal inquiry yesterday into the grounding of the Rotomahana. All the evidence went to show the accident was caused by the strength of the wind and tide, which was unusually strong, not being sufficiently allowed for.

The shooting opens at 9 o'clock tomorrow with the Nelson match. There are 130 competitors here. It is expected that the final competition for the championship takes place on Tuesday afternoon. The competitors complain of the range, .there being a background of white sand. Every appearance of fine weather.
